Doctors, Dreamers, and Muslims – Working toward the highest possible quality healthcare in the current sociopolitical climate
May 24, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am
Most practicing health professionals have the opportunity at some level to care for individuals and communities who receive de jure or de facto differential societal treatment, are subject to stigma and bias, and/or merit special consideration in their health needs assessment for cultural, political or other reasons. This workshop will serve to examine and give tools for addressing this universal phenomenon through the lenses of two groups of patients currently in the national spotlight, while enhancing the attendees’ ability to provide improved care with members of these specific groups.
This workshop is sponsored by the HMS Academy Cross Cultural Care Interest Group Co-Chairs: Daniele Ölveczky, MD MS and Clyde Lanford Smith MD MPH.
The following faculty and students will be moderating and presenting at this workshop:
Martha Cesena, MD, Michael C. Payne, MD MPH, Mohammad Hussain Dar, MD, Carlos Estrada, MD/MBA Class of 2018, Majo Acosta Robayao, HMS Class of 2020, Edelva Williams, MD, and Adebola Yakubu-Owlewa, MD
