Informational Interviewing for Postdocs: An Excellent Way to Enhance Your Career Search

In this workshop, Lauren Celano of Propel Careers will discuss the important role that informational interviewing plays in a career search. She will provide advice on how to identify individuals and reach out to them for an informational interview, and how to structure the interview. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice what questions to ask depending upon what information they are seeking. Tips will be provided on how to follow up after the discussion to build meaningful connections and make the most of the informational interview.

1. Decribe how informational interviews are helpful during a career search
2. Identify and contact people for an informational interview
3. Develop what questions to ask to gain valuable career insights
This workshop is the third in a series of workshops designed to assist postdocs in obtaining the skills necessary to transition to positions in industry. Attendance at these workshops will allow participants to have access to the BWH Postdoc Association’s Connectors Program, a resource for connecting with postdoc alumni who are working in the private sector.
