EKG and Vital Signs Training
December 21 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
The Center for Clinical Investigation is now offering an EKG/Vital Signs course for BWH research coordinators, assistants, and study staff. This training is for study staff members who perform EKGs and obtain Vitals for clinical research studies as part of their current job requirements. This training session will introduce the concepts of vital sign monitoring, anatomical landmarks, fundamental physiology of vital signs, EKG lead placements, and safety guidelines. Vital signs included are temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure. Underlying the demonstrations of taking vital signs and performing EKGs will be the concepts of standard precautions, patient identification, interpersonal communication, and accurate documentation. Participants will be required to validate competency under the supervision of their PIs within their own research settings. This Clinical Skill course is offered every 3rd Thursday from 8am to 12pm at BWH.
Starting in January, the cost for participating in this course will be $15 per subject and will require a BWH Cost Center Number.
Space is limited to allow one-on-one learning.
